Reports has it that the governor of Delta State Ifeanyi Okowa has been stashing stolen funds abroad through his US based mistress just to avoid security detection.
It was likely gathered that the cash was usually wired or hauled in tranches just to outsmart FIU (Financial Intelligence Unit).But according to Drumbeat Investigation News it was revealed that the Delta State governor, lost huge amount of money raging up to 10 Million Dollars to the said mistress in the United States of America.
The whole saga came in the open when a source from EFCC disclosed that the anti-graft agency has commenced investigation into Okowa’s $10 million, which he may have diverted from the bailout funds allocated to his State, but was hijacked by his American based mistress. it was gathered, that he had commissioned his mistress to help him launder the money to a slush accounts he provided. But instead, his mistress deposited the money into her own personal account in the US.
However even in the secrecy everything came in the open as security agents were able to trash the cash and Okowa’s unethical relationship with the lady.

Me while Governor Okowa seems to have been duped by his mistress in Texas, another source confirmed, saying, “The governor is worried after discovering that his girlfriend has defrauded him of $10 million”
It would be recalled that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, while giving his Speech before Delta State speaker House of Assembly,Rt Hon Monday Igboya during the briefing on Financial Status of the State.
“What started as a love affair and promises of good faith has turned sour. Yet the governor would not want his wife or the people of the state, who would be disappointed, to know about this ugly transaction,”
“Investigation so far indicated that the governor allegedly diverted part of the bailout funds meant for his state to the mistress. Very soon, the details of the transaction will be revealed to Nigerians. This is why the government has decided to monitor how bailout funds and London-Paris loan refunds were spent.”And federal government in 2016 released the sum of N1. 266.44 trillion to 36 states under nine months.
Newsmen who tried to get in touch with Governor Okowa on the recent story ,but couldn’t as he wasn’t picking calls or replying text messages. His principal secretary Hilary Ibegbulem told news men that the governor was out of the country with his sick father to London for treatment.
