The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi (Ojaja II) wore the sacred crown as part of the Olojo festival celebrations. Olojo festival which took place On Saturday, October 15, 2016, with lots of dignitaries as well as top VIPs all over Nigeria in attendance.

 

 

The crown is a specially made historically and spiritually symbol that stands as  significant ancestral crown of Oduduwa and the Ooni which issupposedly wore every once a year. According to stort the  Aare crown is made up of about 151 items, inclusively a hoe and a cutlass.

The Olojo festival is an ancient festival that usually celebrated from dusk to dan since it is a day set outside to marks the creation of man.
The festival leads to the absence of  the Ooni of Ife  of about  seven days before he finally comes out from this seclusion with the Aare crown on his head making his subjects as welllas spectators  to make chants of jubilation

The Ooni is seen dressed in white as he performed the final rites with a white dove on his hand to pray for peace before putting on the crown.The festival is seen as a special day where all prayers are answered.
